Inbox/ Conversations are an in-Canvas email system.
When a message is sent from Canvas Inbox, a copy of it is sent to the recipient’s University of Auckland email, depending on how the user has set their notification preferences setting in Canvas. You can reply directly to this notification message via your University email.
However, if a file needs to be attached to the message, we recommend that you send or reply from Canvas Inbox rather than externally from your University email. The same practice should apply to students. This is because attachments made to notification messages will NOT show up in Canvas or in email.
