Both instructors and students can set up their notification preferences in Canvas. The preferences include:
- notification types – what to receive,
- contact methods – how to receive, i.e. by email or mobile app,
- delivery frequency – how often to receive.

Please note that:
- Course-level notifications are inherited from account-level notification settings.
- Adjusting notifications for a course will override notifications at an account level.
- All notification settings only apply to you, but not to other users.
